Stall guidance notes

The Burston Strike School Rally is an increasing popular event in the labour movement calendar. Held on the village Green, in front of the Strike School, the last few years has seen the average attendance noticeably increase. But the Green is limited in its capacity, and ultimately the Rally only succeeds with the good will of the residents of the village behind us. To help the event pass of successfully and without incident, the organisers kindly request all stallholders, to adhere to the following guidelines:
  • Trade unions are given a designated pitch along the roadside edge of the village Green. These are marked out the day before the rally and are allocated randomly.
  • All other campaign stallholders can position themselves wherever they like, but within the areas that have been marked out on the Green by the organisers. These are taken on a ‘first come, first served’ basis only.
  • “Reserving” a spot for people turning up later is strictly NOT allowed.
  • If your organisation wishes to erect a small marquee, rather than just having a table, then please seek guidance from the organisers on site.
  • Because of the limited space available to us on the Green, please do not leave large gaps between yourself and the neighbouring stall when setting up.
  • Please be careful to avoid creating any trip hazard or any other health and safety issue with your stall.
  • The organisers will not be able to provide tables or chairs to stallholders should they forget to bring their own.
  • Some organisations erect their marquees on the day before the Rally. Although to date there has been no issues with this, the organisers do NOT provide any security and take NO responsibility should you choose to do so.
  • When arriving at the Strike School, please do not attempt to drive onto the Green to offload.
  • Vehicles can pull up alongside the Green for offloading but once completed, please then park on the ‘official parking’ site. (Directions signs will be clearly visible to guide you there).
  • If due to health reasons, the distance from the car park back to the Green is too far to walk, then if requested an organiser will provide a lift.
  • For Blue Badge holders, the designated parking will be the Primary School car park. This is the closest (and only space available) to the Rally site. It is though limited in size and is filled on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
  • Please do not park your vehicles anywhere but at the designated car park.
  • When offloading organisers and stewards will be only too happy to help you carry your materials should it be required.
  • The charge for having a stall all goes towards the upkeep of the Strike School. This will be collected during the morning of the Rally.
  • Alongside one edge of the Green runs the road to Diss. Please remember that this is a public highway and cannot be closed off during the time of the Rally.
  • At the end of the Rally, again, please do NOT attempt to drive your vehicle onto the Green to collect your materials. (Again you can drive alongside the Green, and if assistance is required the organisers will be happy to do so)
  • Please take your rubbish home with you for recycling & disposal.
  • The Burston Strike School Trustees reserves the right to refuse an application for a stall.
